Hi, John. As a 30-year resident of Chapel Hill who moved to Bar Harbor in 1999, I am enjoying your blog immensely. It's fun to see Acadia through the eyes of another North Carolinian. Did you have a chance to visit the Wild Gardens of Acadia, a habitat for indigenous plants? I'm on the staff at Friends of Acadia, and our mission focuses on preserving Acadia. Which brings me to a request. FOA is currently in the running for a grant to restore the bog in the Wild Gardens. All we have to do it get more online votes than four other national parks! If you and your readers would like to help, simply go to www.tourismcares.com/save-our-sites/vote-for-a-site, and vote for Friends of Acadia once a day, every day until May 14. It's a great way to support by Acadia by spending just 6 seconds a day. Thanks, John! - Sharon Broom

Dear John

Loved seeing this post. You don't mention visiting Marguerite Yourcenar's museum house Petite Plaisance. She is one of my all time favorite writers, and the house there is open in a limited time frame to the public (at least it was when I was there about five years ago). A fascinating house, and a fascinating writer. Isn't Maine a paradise?

John,

Your blog and pictures of the Bar Harbor trip brought back many memories. Lollie and I visited Acadia National Park and ate tons of lobster in Bar Harbor many years ago. My most vivid memory is of the fog on the ocean shore in Acadia and the gull that pooped on my head.
